One Night Stand: Captain Jack and Lucy
Captain Jack Johnson
On Tuesday, Lucy from Perry County, TN spent a night at the Farnival because she got fixed early the following morning. She arrived at the house with a shy disposition, tail tucked, shivering.
I can’t say I blame her; eight medium-sized dogs (five are two years or younger) currently live here, and their greeting can be overwhelming. Through the clamoring pack, Lucy immediately zeroed in on Captain Jack, looking beyond their heads to see him, raising her tail just a little.
Jack had been dozing on a rug near the TV, but the moment Lucy walked into the living room, he perked up, ears and nose dialing towards her exotic scent. Jack stood. Lucy move towards him, but the pack blocked her.
When they finished inspecting Lucy, Captain Jack approached, as though he’d been waiting in the wings, waiting for the others to finish, so he could have this doe-eyed newbie all to himself.
Lucy may look as innocent as a deer – beige fur, petite frame, and virtuous expression – but Captain Jack uncovered her inner-temptress; shivering forgotten, she shoved her nose up Jack’s butt, got a good sniff, spun around, and pushed her own bum square in his face.
He didn’t seem to mind either. When Jack couldn’t handle another second of her sweet aroma, they switched positions, and this sniffing rotation went on for a few hilarious minutes.
It was love at first scent.
A noteworthy observation: the rest of the pack seemed to recognize something intimate and irregular was happening because they stayed away, watching with fascination from their dog beds – while Mason and I, sitting on the couch, giggled like high school girls smoking pot for the first time.
Jack’s stance was the funniest part of all; he stood so still, posing like a statue, snout high and serious, tail erect. Occasionally, Lucy would move to another section of his nether regions, and Jack would cock his hip ever so slightly, guiding her back to his sweet spot.
Through that evening and the next morning, they stayed close, often repeating their lover’s dance, but never cuddling, like they both understood it was only a one-night stand.
